01 Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Rudder ("we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Rudder iOS application and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account, downloading, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. If you are using Rudder on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

02 Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 16 years old to use Rudder. To access most features you'll create an account using email, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google.

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping it up to date.
  • You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use or suspected security breach.

03 Educational use only

Rudder is a study and knowledge-reinforcement tool for aviation learners. Content — including quizzes, scenarios, and explanations — is provided for general educational purposes.

Important: Rudder is not a certified flight instructor, ground school, or authoritative source of aeronautical information. Always rely on current FAA publications, official charts, your aircraft's documentation, and a certificated flight instructor for real-world decisions. Never use Rudder during the operation of an aircraft.

You are solely responsible for your conduct as a pilot and for complying with all applicable aviation regulations.

04 License to use Rudder

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the Service on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial learning.

This license does not permit you to resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or its content without our written permission.

05 Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Copy, scrape, mine, or redistribute content from the Service except as expressly permitted
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, certificates, or keys
  • Circumvent usage limits, authentication, or security measures (including mTLS or token protections)
  • Use automated systems to access the Service in a manner that sends more requests than a human reasonably could
  • Upload malicious code or interfere with the integrity or performance of the Service
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms

06 Subscriptions & billing

Rudder offers a free tier and an optional Premium subscription that unlocks unlimited strikes, all scenarios, analytics, and offline study.

Billing & renewal

  • Premium is billed through your Apple App Store account at the price shown in-app (e.g. $4.99/month) plus applicable taxes.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in App Store → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds & changes

Payments are processed by Apple and are subject to the App Store's refund policies; we generally cannot issue refunds directly. We may change subscription pricing or features prospectively, with notice as required by law and the App Store.

07 Intellectual property

The Service — including its software, design, logos, text, quizzes, scenarios, and other content — is owned by Rudder or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. The Rudder name and logo are our trademarks.

We welcome your feedback. If you send us suggestions or ideas, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use them to improve the Service without obligation to you.

08 Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Profile.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us, or use the Service in a way that could harm other users. Where reasonable, we'll provide notice. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitations of liability — will survive.

09 Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content is complete, current, or correct. Aviation knowledge and regulations change; verify everything against authoritative sources before acting.

10 Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rudder and its officers, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service.

To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $50.

11 Changes & governing law

We may update these Terms from time to time. When changes are material, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Rudder is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless applicable consumer law grants you other rights.
